We are a unique coffee roaster and café, located in the heart of South Carolina’s Lowcountry.
Born out of a love for coffee and a passion for community, The Corner Perk has grown from a humble neighborhood café into a thriving artisan coffee roasting business, bringing the rich flavors of the world’s best coffee to our customers
At the heart of The Corner Perk is our passion for coffee – not just any coffee, but coffee that tells a story with every sip. Roasting our own beans is an art that we’ve honed over time, an intrinsic part of our identity, enabling us to create a coffee experience like no other.
Every batch of our beans is carefully selected from the finest coffee-growing regions around the world, maintaining ethical sourcing practices that respect growers and the environment. Once the raw beans arrive, they’re roasted on-site, under the careful watch of our skilled roasting team. Through meticulous roasting methods, we unlock the unique flavors and aromas that lie within each bean, resulting in a full-bodied, aromatic cup of coffee that is as memorable as it is enjoyable.
Is he a creative genius or out of his mind? Just plain stubborn or would you call it resilient? That’s a discussion for another day. I once heard one of his old friends introduce him as “a solution looking for a problem.” But, for now let’s call him the man behind the madness and the reason we’re all here! He’s a risk taker, difference maker, and master of experimentation. He’s Head Coach around here and our main source of motivation. He’s got big hopes and dreams and lucky for us all, doesn’t take “no” for an answer!
The Cooke’s Skillet may have been an old family breakfast staple when he was growing up, but, his most frequented menu item these days is a classic Bacon, Egg & Cheese. He drinks a splash of black batch brew coffee with no lid or sleeve. Why just a splash you ask? A few sips is about all he can make it through before setting his cup down to work on the next thing and forgetting where he left it. He clearly can’t pick a favorite thing about Corner Perk (And was offended that I even asked.) But, does love the opportunity to always learn something new and grow alongside our team. As well as having the creative freedom to design each of our locations from the ground up by incorporating “Artfully Crafted Goodness” into every aspect, from the the door handles and handmade light fixtures to the murals featuring local artists!
He once challenged a couple of guys carrying a boombox down River Street in Savannah to a break dancing competition and totally won. (I have no references other than his word. Therefore, if any of you reading this happen to have a witness statement or evidence, please come forward.) On a Friday night you’ll find him out on the water enjoying some of his hometowns finest offerings: paddle boarding or crabbing. Or, hanging out around the bonfire or hot tub with his friends. He aspires for World Domination. But, would settle for a trip with his wife to visit the South Pacific; starting with the Sydney Opera House and making their way to Fiji, The Cook Islands, and ending in Sulawesi, where we partner with coffee growers to buy their unique beans!
After growing up in the remote town of Guadalajara, Mexico, Lucio made his way over to the US in 1995. He met his wife Christina in Minnesota where they got married and had 4 awesome children. He moved his family down to the Lowcountry in 2012, where he became a regular at our original location down on Burnt Church Road in Old Town Bluffton. He joined the team in 2014 and quickly proved his worth beyond compare!
The man has a work ethic that is completely unmatched and the positive attitude to back it up. He’s the first to arrive every morning and the last to leave every afternoon. His servants heart truly shines through in every thing he does. He helps create our made from scratch recipes, manages food cost and inventory, trains and inspires our kitchen staff in every location, and keeps all of us laughing!
Lucio has 3 drinks a day: He starts his mornings with a cup of Pluff Mud. For a mid morning pick me up he orders and Iced Mocha Latte. And, for his afternoon drive home, sweeeeeeet black iced tea! When we can actually convince him to cook something for himself; it’s an Avocado Chorizo Burrito.
He’s passionate about his faith and his family, that much is obvious. On a Friday night after he finishes watching his favorite show, CSI: New Orleans, you’ll catch him feeding his neighborhood raccoon, Travieso (which means trouble maker in Spanish) in hopes to make one a pet some day! He loves fishing, playing frisbee golf, and building legos in his free time.

Born and raised right here in Beaufort, Sarah joined the team in 2022. She learned every role in the company quickly and was promoted to GM within 6 months due to her drive and professional demeanor! She is one of the most reliable employees you’ll ever find, and goes above and beyond for her team and our guests every day.
Her go to Corner Perk brunch item is the Veggie Skillet. Her drink of choice is a hot cup of Pluff Mud, black of course. And, her favorite part of working here is you, the guest! And, she aspires to always be better than she was yesterday.
As a kid she used to put Miracle Grow in her shoes because her brother told her it would help her grow. (No, it didn’t work.) On a Friday night you will find her with her boyfriend out on his sailboat or on her front porch watching the rain. She is passionate about books and her favorite genre to read is mystery/thriller.
